Hello World — Kickstarting My Writing Career

Hello World. I just noticed that this was my first article on Medium that was created while I was just starting my sophomore year for my undergraduate. I thought maybe I can continue off this article and kickstart (again) my journey of writing on Medium.

Currently (2020) I am pursuing a Ph.D. in Software Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University, in Pittsburgh, PA. In this unprecedented and challenging year, I have grown significantly both in my professional and personal life through reading Medium in my spare time.

I have recently become more and more interested in writing about my life on Medium, and hope to become an author that can contribute meaningful stories, and show the world my perspective of seeing things, and hopefully be a writer one day, and pass on my “meaning” to more and more people in the world.

Writing is also a great way of keeping track of my life in general. Since I started my Ph.D., I felt like my life has been so fragmented that I need to start keeping track of it and maybe derive some meaning out of it. To be candid, most of my writing will probably just be some kind of “rant” (as one of my professors Bogdan will put it), but I have to start somewhere, and maybe have some incremental improvement along the way.

But I really don’t have much expectation on this platform. Writing gives me a new way of expressing myself, and frankly, it empowers me and makes me happy in unexpected ways.

The pandemic has fundamentally changed the way of communication and interactions among people, but have presented unique opportunities especially for me. I am a person that cannot stand boredom, and hopefully, writing can bring me joy in life.

Anyway, I’ll start writing from now on, about life, research, and present to you what’s in the mind of a 20-year-old researcher.

Stay safe, and stay connected!
